Samson Avetian and Berge Ayvazian talk about the evolution of telecom services internationally and in Armenia over the last decades, touching upon recent important developments with relation to 5G. They discuss the opportunities this new technology offers for Armenia and draw parallels with the revolution 4G technology resulted in via smartphone capabilities. Finally the issue of Armenia’s positioning relative to other early adopters of 5G comes up as a facilitator and driver of business creation and innovation.
Berge Ayvazian is one of the most distinguished professionals in telecom services. His experience goes back decades with rollouts of different generations of wireless solutions. Today, he is at the forefront of the 5G rollout in the U.S. as a member of the Wireless 20/20 team. He is also one of the founding pillars of the Armenian tech community. He was the president of Armenian High Tech Council of America (2001-2009), co-founder of Nortelco, an Orange Armenia franchise and today is actively involved in the start-up community via advisory and angel investment.
