Andre Gumuchdjian, a Belgian-Armenian philanthropist and entrepreneur was determined to eliminate his carbon footprint. That desire turned into My Forest Armenia, an initiative he launched two years ago with the ambitious mission of helping to increase Armenia’s forest cover by planting 400,000 trees a year.

What we talked about:

- The vision and mission of My Forest Armenia

- The tremendous impact of CO2 emission on the environment

- The importance of reducing our individual carbon footprint

- My Forest Armenia currently has two nurseries and they will be planting in the Lori and Tavush regions

- At 11.2%, Armenia has a relatively low percentage of forest cover relative to its neighbours

- By planting 400,000 trees a year, it will take 187 years to increase Armenia’s forest coverage by just 1%

- Creating forest ecosystems and ensuring biodiversity to fight climate change
